The Town of Thompson operates a 173-acre park off the Old Liberty Road. Presently it has two pavilions, a community building, a barbeque pit, hiking trails, a swimming pool, one of the newest playgrounds in the areas and rest rooms. Many activities are conducted at the park during the year. A town-run day camp operates during the summer season. Under regulations adopted by the Town Board, the park facilities may be reserved for exclusive use by a group or for use by small groups. Small groups may reserve non-exclusive use of the park by making a reservation with Park Superintendent William Culligan.
Small groups are groups of less than 25 persons who expect to use the park for less than four hours and cannot charge for attendance at the event. Larger groups may reserve the exclusive use of the park, but must provide insurance and may charge an admission fee. Large groups must post a refundable cleanup deposit in addition to paying group size charges. More information is available through the Parks & Recreation Department at 845-794-5280.
